Pros

The training experience is a massive fail in itself but the amount of people willing to help when you ask cannot be faulted

Cons

Job advert states 6-8 weeks of training, you're basically doing the job in week 3 The training is carried out initially by someone on Google meets and all they do is read from a Powerpoint slide show. People ask questions and the initial and relevant topic is forgotten about. You're asked to carry out tasks on real accounts before you even know all of the information required for said accounts. The training is rushed and should you call it out, you will be told, "oh, don't worry too much, it takes about 6 months to learn everything" You don't know what team you are going to be in until your last day of training, creating a massively unnecessary stress upon people. Apparently, those of you in your training group are judged and scored from day 1. Then the team managers go in to a room and basically bid for who they want. There are cliques in all of the offices and if you don't fit they will work together to make you that uncomfortable you leave. There is no HR department. Mental health issues are seemingly on a case by case basis. Operations managers and Team Leaders are rude and dismissive.

Hi there, Thanks for giving your feedback, we really appreciate you taking the time to do this. I can see from your post that you're no longer working with us, and I'm sorry that your experience here wasn't great. Some of our training is absolutely 'on-the job' because it's difficult to really learn how to deal with customer issues without looking at real examples and getting some context for the classroom-based training that new starters go through. We also appreciate that not everyone learns well in the same format so we try to mix things up a bit to suit different learning styles. When placing new starters into teams we look at lots of things such as the existing tenure of team members in each team and how many people are already in each team etc. and that's generally how we decide where to place someone. If you'd like to talk more openly about your experience so that I can address your concerns I'd love to do that so please do reach out to me at lynne.higgins@octoenergy.com. Best wishes, Lynne Higgins Head Of Operations Octopus Energy

Pros

Yes, you will get upskilled at some point however it’s very much a double edged sword

Cons

Wages are extremely low compared to other companies and not many pros now with workloads dramatically increasing to much higher than 3 jobs a days that’s sold
