Chaotic and somehow functional
Pros
- Free food, drinks and beers on Friday 4pm - Relaxed work environment, I made few friends with my one and half month working at Octopus energy - Moderate work load for data entry role, if you are fast leaner and get a decent line manager, you should be able meet daily target easily - A good starting point for people who have no or little work experiences. As for me, I just graduated from university with no work experiences at all
Cons
- Below average pay, no bonus. For contract employee, you can get overtime pay by filling in extra working hours after 5pm or on weekends. However, there is no bonus for over achieve your daily target. - Direct line manager and other senior manager can be micro managing sometimes, but as well as you meet your target it's not a big issue. - The free foods and drinks are for you if you are into breads, instant ramen, instant coffee and fruits. ( kinda like a broke uni student diet) - The IT system, with my short working time at Octopus Energy, I have experienced multiple data system failure and major bugs. To be fair, few cases are more wider utility industrial results, but still - No career progression at all, It honestly saddened me as a new graduate seeing people who stayed well over years and doing far more complex tasks, yet somehow getting similar pay to mine. - Finally, the relaxed office environment. Yes it is very friendly, no dress codes and pets are welcome etc. However, be prepared to hear dog barks, encounter totally unprofessional and childish behaviours during working hours
