Underpaid with constant changing direction

Pros

Great people CEO is transparent but nothing that's being shared sounds that great or makes sense. Ability for hybrid/remote work. Healthcare benefits are good.

Cons

Unlimited PTO (Seemed great at first, but now realizing it's not that great. Being understaffed makes it difficult or you feel guilty for taking time off, that I take less time off than I would have accrued at a traditional place. I would feel better departing from the company with all my PTO being paid out. Company direction is constantly changing. Don't really know what we're doing. We are just headless chickens in a room on fire. I'm just waiting for something good to happen. Product is decent but full of bugs. Extremely high turnover. Underpaid, high performing employees do not feel recognized. 401k match low.

Great company strangled by bad management

Pros

Back in the day it had some of the sharpest, most creative, empathetic people in the industry. A lot of the consumer product on both mac and win was built by a very small number of people who truly cared about being the best out there. They're gone now, pushed out by senior leadership with limited technical skills and smaller vision.

Cons

woof, where to start? Marcin has negligible business acumen and a habit of trusting the wrong people based on social connection rather than a proven track record of achievement. Yes men were gradually brought in over the years and as the quality of the enterprise product declined, it became difficult to attract senior leaders with any sort of meaningful experience or technical skills. That vacuum in strategic leadership trickled downwards to where middle managers were forced to fend for themselves and guess at what might please the VPs in any given quarter, and what the next "strategy pivot" would be. Frequently, the next new thing would be a goal previously tried and failed years ago. If you don't get on one of the few teams where the lead is liked by the VP, good luck. Most of the female talent left already, usually for very good reason.

Pros

-Hard to think of one now, but pre-2020, the office was cool -coworkers were fun and truly friends

Cons

-pay is below market -management has zero idea what they are doing...from CS "leadership" to CEO, it's all politics and trying to get "in" with the CEO. Qualifications don't matter. -processes are non-existent -CS team is being built out in FL so with lay offs the whole CA team was cut. Layoffs happening all throughout company multiple times, including super loyal hard workers...this company does NOT care about its employees -CEOs friends are still all there though, safe from layoffs and any other restructuring, of course. -MWB still having off-sites and happy hours, visible on Linkedin posts after all these layoffs. Shows you where priority is -product can't compete and is not for enterprise.
