Do Not Take A Job In Claims

Pros

Great pay and benefits Company gives a lot of time off *see below* I am sure there are some positions there that are great and rewarding.

Cons

Do you like having your work/life balance destroyed? Do you like working long hours into the night just to keep up and make it so your boss does not write you up? Do you like customers that have no clue what their coverage is, or how a claim works, yet can complain to another party that does not do your job but has a lot of weight they can pull so that you are always in fear of being in trouble? Do you enjoy a constant barrage of work added on, no matter how behind you are, and an Employer that cannot keep workers around because they all get burned out and leave, so their is no relief from the work piled upon you? Do you like trying to apply from within the company for a role outside of claims because you are so burned out and not even getting an initial interview for any other position? If you said yes to all of these questions then a career in Claims is for you!

Pros

-Good salary -Multiple feedback mechanisms for customers and employees - attempting agile transformation -some folks really care

Cons

-No strategy at the top..”we want to be number 1” (yea!) - constant reorganizations without good rationale or consideration to impact to throughout (they are always a way to cut costs) - agile transformation already starting to signs of sliding back...devs saying “not my responsibility”, “ the business does that” ...the execs taking about “economies of scale” vs effectiveness -Getting very political (probably because of constant org changes & folks protecting their turf/nation building) - they ask for feedback but when it’s not what they want to hear they rationalize their opposition to it. - they started getting horrible reviews on grass door so they put a link to Glassdoor in their internal recognition site to get mcourage folks to give a review when they are happy.. sketchy... talk about “ leading the witness”

Pros

None. Used to be a great, progressive company that PUT PEOPLE FIRST. No more.

Cons

Despite the fact that previous management applauded the company for how effective WFH has been over 3 years - new REPUBLICAN management is anti-worker, and does not have any regard for people's circumstances. They are mandating that EVERYONE within 50 miles of an office goes in 2 days a week, no matter previous contracts, agreements, etc. They have no reason for this other than "we think it will improve engagement". WORSE, they have hundreds of comments from employees on their internal posts about this and have COMPLETELY ignored them and are still pushing their propaganda. This company will lose the most valuable people in 2023 and will not be able to recover. DO NOT COME HERE unless you're a hardcore conservative and think that work = life.
