Pros

They have been investing in a lot of new instrumentation to help with the shortage. Great as far as my coworkers go. Manger and leads are very nice and helpful. And I absolutely love my job. My issues are with upper management.

Cons

Our lab department has been severely understaffed ever since they acquired Ascension labs. And I do not fault them for that reason alone, it's just the nature of the job market right now. But I will fault them for how they have decided to handle it. When they acquired it within the span of 3 months we lost about 1/3 of our workforce taking it from fully staffed to understaffed. On all shifts. They kept some critical pay and a bonus amount for each extra shift you worked for a bit, but then that was taken away. Then our extra money coming in for the benefits we lost was taken away. When I look at the job boards there are no positions listed for dayshift even though they are just as desperate for people as nights. And the cherry on top of this cake is that now they are getting rid of our temp workers. I personally work every other weekend and pick up one extra shift a week. And I'm just exhausted. I am very afraid of the quality of work that is coming out of our lab and I'm terrified for what this means for our patients. We were told at the beginning of the take over to "stay with with us we'll make it worthwhile." I have seen nothing but downside after downside.

Pros

Was a great company until pandemic

Cons

Stopped caring about employees. For Christmas they gave a bag of snack size chips a miniature chocolate bar and 2 plastic toys.
