Pros

Hyatt is an industry leader. It is definitely a great place to start a career. At my location the turnover rate was very low, and generally meant that the person leaving and being replaced had been moved to a new job within the hotel or was promoted outside of the hotel.

Cons

Hyatt is a management company. Every hotel is independently owned, so your experience can vary widely. Luckily, my hotel has a top-notch staff. However, some people who transferred from other hotels have less than rave reviews about the staff from where they came.

Pros

Ability to grow and be on a fast track. Hyatt does a lot of promoting from within, which is great for any individual working for the company.

Cons

Working with unprofessional individuals who at times are not even competent to do their job, yet because they have a hospitality degree, they are considered intelligent for the industry. Promoting from within without the actual training for development for those associates.

Pros

The best reason to work at the Hyatt Place is the amount of connection you can have with the guests. Being able to check them in and then serve them beer/wine allows you the opportunity to really get to know the people staying at the hotel. Ours is a pretty busy location, so you learn all sorts of things about the U.S. from the people that you meet!

Cons

My property doesn't really foster promotion, notably because there isn't much room for promotion at the Hyatt Places. The other thing is that we are being paid front desk attendant pay to be a concierge, front desk attendant, bartender, barista and cook... that's hardly worth it...
