Pros

25% discount Most of my co-workers were nice and I became friends with a lot of them. Not confined to one room for the entire day, was scheduled to work cashier, then fitting room, then sales floor so work was never boring and I always had something to do. Pretty lenient dress code, could wear almost anything I wanted to work. Better pay than most other retailers around. Benefits for part time employees and full time employees. You get to see the new shipment before anyone else and can keep up with the latest styles. Hour lunch break and two ten minute breaks for 6+ hour shifts.

Cons

Super strict with attendance, even when I called in ahead of time and had a valid excuse for being late. Would give a write up/warning for being one minute late. Managers rarely give incentives/praise to sales associates. Hours are not definite and are always changing. Only one ten minute break for 5 hour shifts. Would not always grant time off, and was often difficult to switch shifts with another co-worker.

Great Benefits

Pros

Great benefits, managers receive 3 weeks of vacation, 7 paid holidays as well as 7 wellness days. Sales associate receive 2 weeks of vacation and part time sales associates receive limited benefits as well.

Cons

H&M had a set of Shared Valued it us to work with which allowed for a employee friendly work place. Now they're rarely mentioned, it's the Five Basic Demands. Although, benefits are great the benefits department is no longer employee friendly. Takes a longer time to get questions answered. Maybe this is the sad reality of a company's growth, employee relations fall by the waste side.

Pros

They pay above average compared to competitors. The benefits are great, lots of paid vacation. If you have the right management team it can be a fun place to work. Depending on your position, there are opportunities to open new stores, travel overseas etc. which can be quite rewarding.

Cons

Communication is inconsistent, they expect way too much from employees on a store level. You can plan and plan and plan but you will never get things done on time. The store changes on a bi-weekly rotation, which takes your focus away from any type of customer service, loss prevention, or ability to get shipment out to the floor in a timely manner, yet they continue to raise the expectation. At every store visit you will only hear about what you didn't do right. Don't expect a thank you or a pat on the back ever. Expect drama at every level, in every store. There is no accountability for job performance, despite the fact they push you to be straightforward. It's virtually impossible to get fired from this company if you are somebody's favorite. Do not expect any sort of development. If you are in the right place at the right time you get promoted, otherwise they expect you to go through a ridiculous promotions process which I've never been subjected to in any of my promotions with the company. Overall every store I've worked in has an overwhelmingly negative attitude.
