Pros

Most of the technicians are great people to work with and are very helpful Benefits aren't too bad Location in San Diego is great The job keeps you busy, you don't find yourself bored very often at all

Cons

You can deal with some pretty nasty people over the phone Management reviews are based on favorites and months of good work isn't acknowledged yet a single bad review from a customer is, warranted or not. No matter how hard you work, if you're not management's favorite, you won't move up. Every tech you ask say they dread coming to work in the morning.

Pros

Bagels and Donuts once a week are now a permanent benefit rather then a bonus

Cons

Poor leadership at the top. Employees are poorly trained and are not informed of major changes to policy and procedures. Most changes come down in the form of an email and askign questions is frowned at. Management is reactive not proactive which i found to be inefficient and frustrating. Pay is low therefore the company does not retain true talent for long. Promotions are rare and never out of cycle regardless of who just left or what needs the department has to be filled. You basically do the job that you want to be promoted to for a year and then maybe they will promote you. Turn over is big. Workload is unreasonable due to low staffing, and ineffective managers. Bringing issues up is discouraged. No career path defined for employees. Lower managers are cowards and are afraid to stand up to the upper managers. Product development is mostly offshore and the company invests very little in keeping products up to date with current technology. The sales people sell product features that don't exist as they are highly pressured to make an unreachable quota. CEO only cares about the bottom line stock price at the end of the day and will not reward great behavior but will spend 1 hour or more quarterly yelling and swearling at sales for not selling his junky products. In essence we are hiring and in need of new blood....employee beware. Make sure you negotiate for the higher position and salary if possible when joining Websense because you will be there for a long long time.
