Learn the right and wrong ways to run a small business.

Cons

Micromanaged to the teeth. The only thing constant in Fastenal is change. They change pay structure and things that effect your pay on a regular basis. Company will do whatever it takes to compensate share holders usually at the detriment of employees.

You can get a wide variety of experience managing a business/customer base. You can advance with performance/experience even without a college degree.

Cons

Modest salary, but commission can be good. Recent trend toward hiring mostly part time employees.

Pros

Great learning experience for young salespeople. They have a very large investment in the company structure. That is only sometimes good.

Cons

They don't pay their employees what they are worth until you are a district mgr. and I'm not sure even then. It's all geared to make the company money and pay their huge overhead.
