Pros

15 days vacations given at 2 years

Cons

horrible work life balance, upper management could care less about employees, weak compensation plans for sales, reorgs happen every 6 months so your territory changes constantly, decisions are made without consulting those affected

Pros

Large company, a lot of support structures in place if you look for them, decent salary compared to my previous job in a similar position. If you're interested in particular areas of science you can use their resources/subscriptions to keep up to date with the latest research.

Cons

Very different cultures between departments. Whilst some departments enjoy 'away days', cake sales, open office environments and social activities, other departments work in complete solitude where everyone sits in their own individual bubbles, headphones on, not interested in any of their colleagues. Difficult to get to know people if you end up in one of these departments.

Pros

Team members, culture, and flexible work schedule

Cons

Lots of reorgs recently from editors to project managers resulting in a loss of a lot of great talent, including people who have been with the business 10+ years. Losing people with their knowledge is a shame, especially in the books department where having that knowledge is absolutely detrimental to the team's success. It's already resulted in a lot of issues and a lack of communication to our authors and editors and it's sure to get worse since they still haven't replaced all of the project managers they laid off even though it's been months, and it'll take time for these new people to get up to speed as well. Because of the reorgs, it also means there are very few opportunities for advancement unless you get lucky.
