      The company has great products and some enthusiastic and knowledgeable people who work there (many don't last though being either pushed out by incompetent management or burnt out)

      Cons

      Bad management. NO recognition of hard work. Executive management is not aware of individual employee contributions, blindly replies on next down level management (VPs) feedback and completely dismisses lower level employees direct feedback. Many of the directors and VPs claim credit for their employees achievements (mid-level management won't share your successes) but point blame towards direct reports whenever anything is not as expected or targets are not met. Perks and awards are not distributed fairly. No clear path for growth or promotion. Instead of promoting within and retaining talent executive management prefers to hire from outside, often ending up hiring people who have no clue what Elsevier customers are looking for.
