Pros

Not even 1 pro I can think of.

Cons

Not recommended. They see people as commodity. Once they dont hit targets, they get rid of them. But at the beginning they make it appear like your huge opportunity. Their so called “Managers” at the age of 23, make serious companies laugh.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you did not have a positive experience with us. To address some of your points, we are a Sales-based company and have key targets in place for staff which is normal of any sales based company. Sales is not an environment for everyone, but if you succeed at it, the rewards are excellent, as are the career progression opportunities both in the UK and internationally. It’s true that we have a teams led by young managers, but this is not unusual in the FinTech industry. Some of our Front Office employees have been with us for over 5 years; they have worked their way up and as a natural progression moved into leadership roles, in which they are fully supported by the Senior Management team and by our Ebury Academy which is focused on upskilling our junior managers. We always strive to ensure that any manager is given the necessary training to make sure they are equipped with the best skills possible to lead their teams effectively. We would like to encourage you to expand upon your comments further by contacting hr@ebury.com, in order for us to better understand your review, and to make improvements.

Pros

As a student currently in the middle of a Business Degree, having spent the summer of 2017 working for Ebury positively opened my eyes to the Finance sector in the city. Ebury has a great work culture and sense of community. Without a doubt, the best part of working at Ebury was the ability to work with diverse, motivated and welcoming members of staff. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and supported on all aspects of my job. Management have a real hands on approach and they are very easy to work alongside. Events like the Women's Initiative Evening and Summer Party allowed the younger members of staff to get to know management outside of work and have some fun. Working for Ebury was so rewarding, I didn't want to leave.

Cons

Ebury can be too fast paced for some, but that is the nature of the city. Training and rewards more than make up for a few stressful or pressured days now and then.

Thank you very much for your lovely review! We appreciate your comments about our employees - we are lucky to have a talented pool of experienced staff here who make our Company so exciting to work for, and I am glad you felt supported during your time with us. We have always maintained that Ebury can’t be the perfect fit for everyone given our fast-paced culture, but it seems you had a great experience with us. Thank your for your contribution to our team, and please keep in touch!

Pros

- Good atmosphere. - The people are good fun, easy to get along with, (no cliques like in other companies, anyone can speak to anyone about anything, no matter how high up someone is they will engage with everyone) and the social scene is good if you want to get involved. - If you enjoy sales and are interested in the markets you can be very successful here. - Success of employees is something they are very proud of (rightly so), the majority of senior management started out at the bottom of the food chain, which shows where you can get to with hard work. - This can be a very dull role, but if you can stay 2+ years it can be very lucrative.

Cons

- Success can be put down to blind luck, inbound calls play a big part. - Very repetitive. - Admittedly, a sales role needs to be judged by performance, more emphasis could be placed on how actual client interactions/ calls are going rather than a simple, are they are prospective client or not. I realise this would be hard to roll out but perhaps is food for thought. - The role of a BD is very restricted, gauge interest of a prospective client then pass it on to your Head of Desk or SS2, no relationship built. - Senior management are not necessarily good managers just because they have worked their way up through the company.

Thank you for your detailed review of our Company, and for acknowledging our great people and flat hierarchy. We think it’s important for the management team to be accessible to staff across all levels, and as you have pointed out, most of them started from your positions so they understand what it’s like to work your way up. Regarding your comments about the Business Developer role, we would like to add that this position was created as a junior role - a starting point for your career with us. Our career pathways have a set structure that are designed to encourage you to work towards your promotions, which is why someone who is a Senior Sales may have the chance to build more client relationships than a Business Developer. We acknowledge your point about different people needing varying management styles, and would like to reassure you that our Sales managers go through regular trainings to ensure they have all the tools they need to effectively manage their teams. Likewise, we have developed the Ebury Academy with offsite Bootcamps specifically for training (and fun with your peers across the Company) at each step of your career. We are also in the process of developing a more extensive 90 day training programme which follows on from the Induction. We strive to equip our sales staff with all the tools possible to be able to do their best at each level of their role and develop a successful career at Ebury and enjoy the journey with us.
