Pros

Nice, bright interiors. Open space with lot of light.

Cons

They have their own internal tools, developer environment etc. Very archaic technologies used. One example is : they use Excel sheet to manage Sprint, tasks and estimates. People in my team work in silos. Very hostile environment. Not good for diverse people. There is no team work and collaboration.

Pros

DS has an excellent benefits package and it is a company where you can manage Work/Life balance if you try. The company is absolutely loaded with incredibly talented employees who are inspired by the compelling vision being pursued by the top leadership of the company. IFWE can deliver most of what we promise we will make the world a better place. The company has a solid business model and excellent financial leadership enables it to pursue long range goals and endure through significant mistakes and poor economies. Employees have real opportunity at DS. It is rare to do the same job for more than a few years. You will not be bored here. The company is also pretty loyal and encourages people to move between roles to pursue new areas of interest within the company. DS is an international company and this opens up a lot of opportunity for travel.

Cons

Although the vision of the company is extremely compelling, DS has missed every major technology shift of the last 20 years. The company is always playing catch up because it tries to compete at the wrong level. How could a company with great vision be so blind about it's place in the world of technology? Some examples (I swear all are true): DS once tried to "own the desktop". When CATIA ran on Mainframe and UNIX Workstations DS decided to build a better desktop experience than Microsoft. When browsers were born DS decided to develop a better browser. When social networking exploded DS decided it had to buy one of it's own. Now DS is late to cloud computing and online sales. I lay this issue squarely at the feet of the leader of the R&D team: Dominique Florack. Time after time he has been wrong and yet he still is in charge of the technical direction of the company. The company organization is too complex and this leads to confusion among employees and unhealthy internal competition among mid-level managers. It takes years to assimilate new acquisitions. DS' array of business systems are confusing, irrationally assembled, and mostly built internally. DS is a French company and there are real challenges to overcome if you don't understand French culture and "the DS Way". In my view the Pros outweigh the Cons, but you do have to be able to tolerate some frustration. A lot of very smart people are still here because they, like DS, have a long term vision.

Pros

Only thing I liked was the no of leaves(34).

Cons

Joined recently , left this place within an year. This review represents most of the members of Medidata Brand. I'm not writing this because I've problem with anyone in the company. I'm writing because I don't want anyone else to fall for the fake PR done by HR. Poor work life balance. If you join be ready to work late night. Working till 10 PM is normal. Managers will eat your brain and keep assigning you new task and expect you to complete it as if you've Harry potter's stick. Managers are the biggest loser's I've seen. They'll eat the credit if something goes right but if something bad happens they will hide behind the employee. Not a single policy is employee friendly. Variable pay is paid after two months of the cycle. That too you'll never know what % they paid. Managers are quite old and they think they own the place. They'll make you work till late night and if that's less even on weekends. No compensation is paid if you work late night or on weekend. Too much politics. The old guys plot plans against the new joiners. They want to keep their job safe by playing petty politics. Being a product company you expect the perks. But here you'll only get your salary, that's it. I feel it's an over glorified service firm. The work culture is not like product company at all. All of their new hires are from service based firms, that is also the reason why it feels worst to work here. You've to serve a long 90 days notice period. That is the biggest bottleneck if you want to get out of here. Also the HR or recruiter will not tell you that they have 90 days notice. Neither they write it in the offer letter. Many of the new joiners have resigned within a year to get rid of this suffering. The attrition rate is going to be very this year because of the exploitation they've done to the employees. So sincere advice to you Don't get fooled by the paid reviews done by the company. It's not a 4-star company at all. Save your life and don't join this company.
