Pros

Competitive pay at Director level and above. Nice office in Irvine, close to San Diego and Los Angeles.

Cons

CalAmp is sales focus, that means you're always chasing a sale and may constantly be re-tasked. Management doesn't understand software development, staffing or how to get in front of issues. Expectation is you work 55+ hours per week. Even though CalAmp has "Unlimited PTO" it will get canceled if your group is busy. Pay raises when received don't keep up with cost of living or even the national average at other companies. Single product company, possibility that you will stay in a single vertical.

Growing up is hard to do

Pros

Sales is executing in ways they've never done before. CalAmp is collecting great logos and the sales team is getting into accounts that the prior regime couldn't. This might be the beginning of something huge! Employees have the flexibility to pick up lots of things if they're capable and willing.

Cons

Engineering is late on many critical products and struggles to keep up with the sales, putting the revenue growth at risk. Well intentioned processes have gone too far and are slowing down product releases even more. Key people are considering leaving because despite revenue growth and sales growth, pay is not quite at market and raises are frozen.

Pros

I am a full time employee of CalAmp for a little over 6 months. This company has poised itself to grow both culturally and with it's cutting edge Technology. In my employment I have seen Dev-Ops begin to take hold, as well as a company push for employee cultural adjustments that present a great work-life balance.

Cons

Growing pains, as new technology is introduced, there are small adjustments that are eased by the employee culture CalAmp is enveloping.
