Pros

Great for a fresh graduate or a stepping stone to get into a financial industry. Turn over rate high, always hiring.

Cons

If you look forward to an annual $500.00 annual increase regardless of your starting salary, small annual bonus. You talk to your clients about inflation, when your own salary would never catch up to it. You would make more doing backoffice work elsewhere. They would only pay for IFIC and will not pay for CSC. even though you are required CSC to be license for IROC for imperial service if you want to advance. Limited career movement due to branch politics. Of course if your parents work for the higher up management in CIBC, you would have advancement opportunity. Never seen so many negative comment for this comment. If you want higher salary apply for RBC and TD.

Pros

It's a living, at least for now

Cons

Learn last week that Finance functions will be outsourced to Accenture. Accenture is off-shoring to India. Significant layoffs are expected in Finance over the next year or two as transition takes place. Also need to add that in the technology group, that I support a quarter to a third of the jobs are already off-shore in India.

Cons

I have been working as a CSR and then senior CSR for 3 years, please look at this if you wish to start a career at CIBC. - NO INCREASE at pay, doing senior csr job and receiving regular csr pay - NO full time positions provided ( they just do not wish to give me full time) - NO career advancement. I have won several quarterly awards, being nominated a few times, won award of excellence, and manager rated my performance as " unsatisfactory" - DISCRIMINATION. If you are from other cultures, you can move as far as FSR and that's the end of your financial career. No management opportunities given to diverse cultures. One of the staff was fired by my manager and was told " need to improve English" because she spoke with an accent. - LESS EDUCATED managers. Don't know if she ever had a college degree. Maybe. Know NOTHING about management. - ONLY care about sales. No client oriented at all. - Favouritism. Giving worst hours to me and best schedule to some employee she likes - can't schedule own vacation, she will arrange FOR YOU! - micro management. If you went on lunch 5 mins late, she will be super MAD.no matter how you are doing at sales (I'm always at 150%), never recognize any contribution you made. - very negative environment make me sick - everything is a number game. - relatinship worth more than skills - education not valued AT ALL. - most FSR are hired externally without a decent degree and knows nothing about investment before - heavy LABOR WORK. Balancing ATM machine everyday!!!!
