      CIBC Front Line Too Poorly Paid To Get a Mortgage.

      Pros

      There are chances to get a good year end bonus, if you are a good seller of banking products and the medical/dental package is very good.

      Cons

      The targets are too high for many employees to reach, so it is increasingly difficult to get a year end bonus. As well, new hires start at a higher salary than those already in the job, and there is no extra income given for years of experience. No matter how well you do, you are always told it is not good enough, so morale is low.

      Apply to the other banks. Coworkers are great, management and compensation are terrible.

      Pros

      Decent benefits and vacation entitlement. Employer paid pension after two years. Employee share purchase plan with employer matching.

      Cons

      Terrible leadership within the Employee Relations team. Rampant favouritism and underhanded politics at play. Limited growth opportunities. Compensation is frustratingly low compared to workload and what other banks pay for the same work. Save yourself the headache and apply to the top 4 banks instead. CIBC is trying to grow too fast and at the expense of its employees. Everyone is overworked. High turnover is indicative of ineffective leadership and the need for a culture reset.
