Pros

- Decent compensation - Free coffee / tea - Downtown Toronto - 9-5 culture

Cons

- Culture of 'busy bodies' that backstab people. Trying to get colleagues fired seems to be a hobby of most people at this organization. - Inflated job titles. Someone who would be called a Manager somewhere else is called a Director at CIBC. A Sr. Consultant is a Sr. Manager. This has caused small people to feel they are big and important. They feel entitled to be respected and get upset when new hires don't respect a 27 year old "Sr. Mgr". Ridiculous. - Sr. Leadership are incredibly two faced and rule by intimidation. Being honest with your own manager is career suicide at this place.

Pros

It's a job. If you need one, they're always hiring due to high turnover.

Cons

- if you want to know what it's like to be managed by the blind, apply here. - depending on which sub-group you work for, management can be really horrible. - do not take a job in the data management / quality assurance team (you've been warned). - morale is low. Workers are miserable. Nice people, but very miserable. - HR doesn't seem to do a good job in screening for good people managers. As a result, the workers are miserable from the lack of appreciation and professionalism that middle mgmt has shown. - look at other bank reviews by employees and you won't see nearly as much negative sentiment as you do with cibc. - consider this review a favour to all who are thinking of applying. You're welcome.

Pros

The hours are good, and you get free banking

Cons

horribly, horribly run company, right from senior management all the way down to the branch managers. There is a complete lack of training, they have the most unintuitive computer systems I have ever seen in my life, the work environment is like a junior high school, just completely unprofessional, and you have to proactively sell people credit products they do not need and make them a slave to the bank or lose your job.
