Pros

Great Benefits - 10% 401K match, affordable health insurance, lots of additional perks and benefits. The whole company shuts down from Christmas to New Years, so you get 5 extra paid days off during holidays. Salaries employees are paid for extra for working overtime.

Cons

Very bureaucratic. Software has three vertical lines of management (Software Managers, Chief Engineers, and Project Management) which each has 4-5 levels, This means there's 12-15 different all-hands meetings every quarter, where different and sometimes conflicting information is presented. Lot's of red tape to get anything done. There's so many sources of information in various locations on shared drives and intranet. Much of it is outdated, but some of it is kept up to date. There's no real way to distinguish what the current policies or best practices are, as even management doesn't know where the latest information is coming from. Very little opportunity for growth and development. Positions end up being very specialized due to the size of the organization. You can easily wind up doing the same exact job for a decade.

Pros

Pretty good company culture, love their REACH program to get people involved and social outside of work, but very work focused. Benefits can't be beat with the 401k matching and love flex time. Great work/life balance.

Cons

Promotions, bonuses, and advancements are virtually nonexistent. This has been especially true since the company's 737 max disaster. I joined right after it happened and the company's definitely been struggling. The fact Boeing got a payout to be saved during the COVID and 737 max crisis made me lose faith in the company. The recent trend has been to hire from outside the company rather than promote from within which is disappointing. Specifically, cyber is not great at Boeing. I switched site locations to try to get exposure to more engaging and interesting cyber work but just got more of the same -- scanning, auditing, compliance, and reports. Very tedious, boring, and hum-drum. I honestly believe I have learned nothing new in technical skills for the last 2-3 years; it's just more of the same, cybersecurity-wise. It's not great for growth in the cyber field and I plan to leave soon so I can get exposed to more of the various different realms of cybersecurity that Boeing doesn't seem interested in exploring. Additionally, could be getting paid much more for what I am doing. Salary is lower than market on average, which again points to Boeing not valuing cyber professionals in general.

Pros

Good work/life balance. Job seems secure. Good entry level salary. Good benefits (401k, med, and education, use them!) Friendly, approachable, and welcoming co workers. It's a large company, so there's a large community attached to it.

Cons

I'm called an engineer, but don't actually do engineering. I'm largely a low level project manager, but without the salary of a PM. I have no interest in the work, and what I do is excruciatingly boring. It feels like I'm quickly becoming invaluable as an engineer, and stuck with this company. The pay is okay for an ME, but not great for the location. The bureaucracy and disconnect between (lets say) work statements is insane! I think this is a collect-a-paycheck job, and not a career.
