Company doesn't always embrace their workers abroad

Pros

When the job market is tight in the UK the company does what it needs to do to outsource and hire regular employees abroad, taking whatever steps necessary and paying a pretty handsome salary for talent based on local market rate.

Cons

When the UK job market goes south, the company looks to put UK workers back to work and makes US based employees redundant no matter what their ability level is or how much they produce. They've replaced key US workers on projects with lesser qualified UK workers and have set projects behind needing to bring those replacements up to speed.

Pros

Security. You get paid at the end of the month. Nothing else.

Cons

Sexism and racism are rife, loads of useless, talentless middle managers. Nasty politics at the expense of customer commitments. no concept of customer service, non-existing customer focused culture. I am stuck here and can't find the time to retrain to get a new job elsewhere. I am helpless and hate how much I need to keep this job to feed my young family.

Pros

* You can login late by 11 or 12. Most people work in UK shifts * Frequent vacations * decent hikes

Cons

* No Value add to the career path * Outdated policies and process are followed which kills time * Systems function in a complex manner and things are unnecessarily complicated. End of the day you spend more time solving BT's issues than real technical problems. * Not a good place to work for and when things fail you are blamed for many things that you are not responsible for. * Lot of work politics and drama. * Attrition rate is as high as 45% * Management is least bothered about real employees issues and don't try to simply the way systems are built, but they paint a rosy picture and stab you at the back. Typical British mentality still prevails in the company culture. * They still ask people to sign the attendance register , image how outdated their systems must be and what a waste of paper. They claim to be pioneers in telecom but can't manage a simple swipe in and swipe out electronically. What an irony :)
