      Not As Good As It Used To Be

      Pros

      Position still offers a degree of flexibility. Good vacation accrual and bonus plan (when it's paid). Friendly co-workers.

      Cons

      Becoming increasingly difficult to get the simplest of things done (IT support, travel approval etc...). There is a constant threat to outsource work to low cost work centers (India, Hungary etc...). Benefits, bonuses, company cell phone plans, are constantly being reduced or taken away. The workflows on many of the products are extremely convoluted which makes it very difficult to deliver a product when in reality, it should be much more simple than it is.

      Challenging Transition from Cost Cutting to Growth

      Pros

      There are interesting challenges to work on all over BT and if you are able to find the good managers and pockets of good people, it can be a challenging and rewarding place to work. There is no shortage of opportunity to implement change, but it requires tenacity and resilience.

      Cons

      There is a strong 'command and control' culture that is driven by Finance, and Finance via HR. Management seems to be very metric driven, some of which are defined in ways that we're not necessarily making the best decisions for the long-term health of the company - but we are meeting those metrics objectives. They are reluctant to invest in people to bring the business back to growth.
