Pros

All the ground level associates truly feel and live the mission. Patient care/outcomes and experience is their top priority.

Cons

Leadership is very poor and is only focused on making their own bonuses.

Pros

The shifts are 12 hours, so you only work 3 days a week. Most of my coworkers are great to work with. My manager is very accomadating as far as the schedule.

Cons

I have been an employee for 5+ years, but still every "raise" I have received has only bumped my pay to the bottom of the pay scale, therefore brand new employees with no experience at all make the exact same as me, despite being told that I am a great employee, and having good reviews every year. Benefits are quickly disappearing. PTO accrual rate lowered. Excused call in days lowered from 3 to 2. Insurance costs more for worse coverage, although we supposedly switched to a company also owned by Ascension because it would cost less. I guess they meant it would cost less for them, not their employees! Often forced to work in an environment unsafe to the employees and the patients. Most of the time we are short staffed and must take more patients than what our maximum patient load is. The management is mostly ineffective. And that's on a good day when you actually see them or they finally return one of your many unanswered phone calls and emails.

Pros

Free parking. You have a job. That's about it.

Cons

This is a terrible terrible terrible place to work. Do not come here. Do not work here. You will never realize how bad it is until it is too late and you accepted the job offer. The Present of the Hospital, Amy F, is an awful, brutal and extremely difficult-to-work-for woman who does not care one bit about you or your ultimate career goals. Once you work for her, she owns you and you dare not to attempt to leave, or she will make an example out of you. She only cares about herself and it shows in the way she has managed this poor organization over the past six years. Absolutely every one hates working here from top to bottom. Every single employee sees this place as a sinking ship with no way out. There are cockroaches in the cafeteria and hallways. There are used bandages and needles on the floors of exam rooms. There are holes in the ceiling on each floor with exposed wires coming out of them. There are elevators that are broken and unfixed for months. Managers are purposely modifying non-exempt employees timesheets in Kronos every other week, and employees are not being paid overtime they have physically worked for and are entitled to. This is being done off-the-record with no emails that can be traced back to senior management (who first issued this direct verbal order in private management meetings 2.5 years ago). This is a blatant violation of DC and federal law. There is little/no security on site. Almost all of the physicians here are viscous bullies who will gladly walk over you to continue making their rich salaries. Nurses/support staff/administrative staff are treated extremely poorly and are expected to work for poverty wage. Since the day I started working here several years ago, it has gotten progressively worse and worse and worse. I am absolutely shocked that no one has the gravitas to stand up to this terrible leadership and do something about this. They are literally sinking/raping this entire hospital and robbing it of every last penny. They have lied face-to-face to the DOH and JCAHO multiple times during on-site inspections and not once has any employee been willing to challenge these blatant violations for fear of losing their job. Anyone who dares speaks out, gives constructive feedback/advice, or tries to find ways to improve this organization and make the real tough choices are quickly fired and shown the door. They are desperate to keep the status quo so they can continue to make huge salaries for minimal work. These senior executives are awful awful people who are not to be trusted under any circumstance whatsoever. They will fire you if you try to leave or find out you are looking for another job. It may be legal, but incredibly immoral. I was one of the lucky few who got out before they could get me. I repeat: do not work here. You have been warned.
