Pros

It's a stable company with a wide range of technology available to work with/on.

Cons

Management seems to have no particular strategy or focus and is extremely risk averse. Resources are spread very thin. ADI has a large basket of technology, but never integrates any of it together to target specific markets or applications so rarely survives after the first generation of a product or application when a customer is trying to cost down something in a high volume market.

Pros

Analog is a stable and well-established company. They have a broad portfolio of products that diversify them across many end markets and customers. All employees are very capable and the senior designers are some of the best in the industry. There are good opportunities to learn here.

Cons

I think organizations of people come in different size classes and each size requires a different structure and communication style. Analog has grown from small to medium and is approaching large, but the corporate memory and habits are still those of a small organization. Lack of adequate communication is a problem in all directions (top-down, between groups and within one group). Politics and personality conflicts can get in the way of progress. In short: individuals, good; working together as a group, bad.

Pros

You can enjoy a good life as an integrated circuit designer. The environment is relaxed, they give plenty of space for creativity, and performance is valued more than deadlines. They hire some of the best designers that you can find in the industry and it is a great place to learn.

Cons

Most of the designers work in small chips and they specialize in a single type of circuit, which does not provide them with a broad base for their future career. The professional growth opportunities are limited, and experience is more valued than talent. Working in a remote site is not pleasant due to management ignoring feedback from those that do not work in the headquarters. Marketing does a poor job, and HR is absolutely useless.
