- I had to work 60hours in some weeks to compensate hours that I spent for AVL. In a normal week, I needed 40hours to fill in AVL, and I supposed to work 37-40hours for customers. During performance reviews, they considered this full-time customer project as 50%-60% for my score.
- After AVL office projects, they did not care what I would like to do, for example I did a customer based role more than 3 years. Initially, they said that it would be just for 3-6 months. Because of visa sponsorship, I have been kind of forced to move that project, move my house, otherwise I would be redundant. They did this very kindly.
- They said that they will pay the visa fees, but they changed this support during Covid19 pandemic and they are not paying it anymore. They negotiated on salary at first because they are paying visa fees. If they don't pay, you can't do much, it is not easy to change jobs before getting ILR(Settlement).
-If AVL sponsors your visa, then your career growth and salary increase are also limited as they already know you can't move to another company without a sponsorship.
- For people who need visa, you need to sign attendance sheet "physically" every week, which was very frustrating since Covid19.
- Not all, but few leaders are forcing engineers to show too much flexibility to do something which you don't have any idea. If you are kind of engineer that would like to jump between skillsets like a Tarzan, please ignore this comment.
- I have been told that I will get good bonus in 2020 because we had a great year in 2019 but I didn't get anything at all.
- They do change policies without enough notice, even carrying 5 holiday days to next year requires so much approval. This was an automatic request before covid19.
- You can be in CAD design engineering department but you can do controller development in MATLAB, you can be member for engine calibration team but other teams will do your tasks on your expertise. There are so many example that I could list. No collaboration between teams, every team is trying to take all the jobs in the company.
- They are either pushing too much to get customer projects to the AVL UK that they can't work with AVL Graz or they are trying to work with AVL Graz but because of tense relationship, AVL Graz don't share the project with AVL UK. For me, AVL Graz is the mafia leader of all AVL affiliates and collecting license fees from all AVL affiliates. If your salary is low, they may consider. This is very common in most companies, but in AVL you only sell engineering service, consultation. No project, no money.
- It is nothing like AVL Graz, not even 10% of it. If you would like to work for AVL, go the AVL Graz or AVL Germany. On technical level, you can still ask questions or have discussions with Graz engineers.
- AVL UK works more like an agency and sells the manpower on an hourly basis only the rates are quite high compared to other employment agencies. They didn't invest in training of the employees as long as customer is happy.
