Pros

Make a lot of new friends, especially colleagues in your department. Good relationship with your manager has its own advantages. Pay is not bad. When busy time flies otherwise time drags.

Cons

Boring, same thing every day. Management can give you a headache. They treat everyone the same instead of treating everyone individually! Never listen to you, in one ear out the other. Managers don't like you getting trained on other departments because it could mean you may move away from their department! Development isn't a very good option. Becoming a section leader is not worth it. Work harder than a manager and only get a few pence more than a normal colleague.

Management, organization, cutting of everyone's hours. As 1 manager said to me" this company, doesn't like full time staff"

Pros

The best reason to work for asda is definitely the colleagues in store, right from the beginning everyone is extremely open and friendly and we all have a great laugh together. The wages are reasonable considering the skill levels required and they offer lots of opportunities to do further training and advance within the company.

Cons

Being left short of colleagues far too often. Most weeks in my store contain at least 2 days where we are left extremely short staffed. This particularly affects us who work the back shifts and who are usually left to deal with all the organisation work of front end at the end of the night as well as taking care of 20 self service checkouts single handed. If the management would give us more contracted hours this would be much less of an issue and it would make working there a lot easier.
