Pros

Asda was a great employer up until around the last 6 months of my employment. I started there when I was 17, at this point I had just started my A Levels and it was great as it was really flexible hours, which fit around my studying. Decent pay for doing an easy job. Worked with some great people, had a laugh which made shifts go quicker. I worked on George but it would have been easy to get overtime on other departments.

Cons

A new store manager started and then things started to go downhill. He would wander about on his mobile phone when things needed to be done, and just moaned about them instead of doing anything to help. It got worse when he thought it was acceptable to talk to me like I wasn't capable of doing a job I had been doing for 2 years (which I had won awards for doing a good job), and so I spoke to him exactly the same, which I got pulled into the office for. After that he constantly harassed me at work, pretty much watched everything that I did and got other managers to spy on me (how professional). Got pulled into the office after this for a number of times, one which included being pulled in by a different manager for having 'purple hair' when it was simply platinum blonde/grey, which the people manager even came in and said 'what is he going on about purple hair?' and walked back out again. It got to a point where I could not even be bothered with the hassle any more, and so when I got another job (in which it is actually acceptable to express your opinion) I didn't think twice about leaving. I guess it is luck of the draw which managers you end up with but in my experience the managers have their favourites, yet the company as a whole boasts about diversity meaning that there is less bullying and harassment. If you want a job in which people will listen to your ideas and opinions, do not apply here!!
