Pros

Very good compensation and benefits. Annual bonus can be generous commensurate with performance. Ability to work remote, and good work/life balance. Global reach makes for good opportunities internationally.

Cons

Very unstable environment currently. Management's view is that AIG is not a career company. Job cuts/ consolidation in progress due to reorganization of various businesses into a single company. Unfair performance management process.

Pros

Good talented people; work at home program

Cons

Quarterly layoffs and constant uncertainly; no one is safe; work/life balance non-existent; overworked and under-appreciated -- 35 work week is really 60+ always. Company has let so many great employees go since the fall of AIG in its ongoing effort to boost profitability. No raises in years.

Bob Benmoshe... The Vladimir Putin of Insurance

Pros

Great product line.. Unmatched in insurance industry

Cons

You may not like what I'm about to say but someone needs to say something because it's the truth. Bob Benmosche is the Vladimir Putin of the the insurance industry. Case in point. Look at the newest executives to the AIG Financial Network. He first replaced all current, now former executives with now current, former Metlife executives (Bob was CEO for Metlife from 98-06). Slowly trickling down is the replacement of local office management with former Metlife local office management. He is empowering his friends/ex business associates... Raises the question... Who's best interest do you and your associates have in mind? Yours or your clients?
