Pros

Book of clients. Depending on you DM, a good amount of freedom to work and grow without being micro-managed.

Cons

Other than pushing annuities as a "financial planning" fix all, VALIC is light years away from being a well balanced financial firm. Probably why the clients take their retirement funds to other financial firms once they retire. The "new management" generation has a micro-management mentality.

Pros

use of photo copy machine, temporary use of desk but can not leave any files or notes on desk when you leave

Cons

owned by AIG, reduced comissions due to the fixed rate environment today. NO brokerage research - only unsolicited trades allowed. no incentive for bringing on new enrollments, low morale. NO admin support unless advisors pays for staff. co. limits amount of free postage for mailings. management is bleeding the advisors dry so they can get their bonus
