I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Merge API in Mar 2025
Interview
Recruiter screen, then 1 technical coding interview, followed by 1 virtual onsite (HM, coding, systems design), followed by CTO culture interview.
Team is young (I liked them!), moving very quickly. Liked the systems interview, hated the contrived Leetcode coding ones. Like other reviewers, I was not sold on the business, and the offer was a lot lower than other offers I had on the table, so sadly I had to pass.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Coding: 1 multi-part coding question. 1 standard algorithms/data-structures question.
Design: Consumer facing app with lots of possible deep dives (nice that you can focus on specific portions that you have expertise in)
Interview Process consists of Technical Phone Screen. Interviewer was distracted the entire time. Most of the engineers are fresh out of college or < 4 years of experience. Seems like a sweat shop
Not sure about the future of the company. Seems like there's lot of competition in the space
It was ok. Young engineering team and seems like a bunch of them didn’t have too much experience. It’s on site 5 days a week, which isn’t ideal. Not the best interviewer either. Vibes were off.
