I submitted online application and a few days later was contacted by HR to arrange 30 minute video interview. I was told that during this interview they would check my knowledge of peer review process. During the first interview they expect you to tell them about the peer review process at Frontiers step by step which meant that it took me a lot of time to prepare before this interview. They also expect you to know in detail the job description, the duties and how you understand this role. I found this surprising as usually during the first screening interview it's the recruiter who is telling more about the role and the duties but not the other way round. During the interview the interviewer was reading from a script which made it difficult to build rapport. In any case, as I was very interested in this role, I took my time before the interview, learnt about the peer review process and the role in detail. After the interview I received a generic rejection email saying that they are not able to provide any feedback. I am ok with the rejection but I was disappointed they they refused to provide me with any feedback especially taking into account the fact that they expect you to invest your time and effort into learning about their processes, company and the role in detail before the first interview. I would not consider applying to any future openings at this company after this experience.
