I applied through other source. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Cisco (Austin, TX) in Jul 2019
Interview
I'm an internal candidate interviewing for a Project Manager role on the TA team. I applied for the role 49 days ago through Cisco's internal job portal.
After applying, I directly reached out to the recruiter 3 times before getting a response over a week later. My current manager even reached out to the recruiter giving their endorsement for my candidacy.
Three weeks later I had my interview with the hiring manager who was very nice and informative. I felt like it went well, she explained her expectations of the role and goals for the team and then I shared my experience and why I was interested in the opportunity. The hiring manager said she'd get back to me mid-week which was pleasantly surprising. Over 3 weeks later and I still haven't heard from her.
I've followed up with the hiring manager 3 times via email and radio silence. I can clearly see her calendar and that she's active on WebEx teams. I've followed up with the recruiter 3 times as well directly on WebEx teams and no response.
I work with Talent Acquisition leaders and Recruiting team members on a daily basis and they take pride in candidate experience. This has been the opposite of good candidate experience, especially as an internal candidate. I was excited to be interviewing for this role, now I'm second guessing my interest in the role due to the lack of communication and common curtesy.
Leaving a candidate in the dark in regards to their candidacy is simply unprofessional.
I was surprised at how fast the process went. I was first contacted by two recruiters who did the initial screening. After that the director of the team interviewed me over the phone. With the completion of the phone screen, I was invited on-site. The on-site interview was 6 hours
I applied online. I interviewed at Cisco (San Jose, CA) in Mar 2019
Interview
Very friendly interviewers. Questions were easy. Mostly about pricing, product positioning, market fit, competition. Half of the questions were on technical aspects of the product area I was interviewing for. Interviewers were from engineering and marketing teams.
