I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Cisco (San Jose, CA) in Apr 2010
Interview
The recruiter called me for a position that was very detailed that needed a finance person with marketing skills. I did have some of the skill sets. Finally, after 2 weeks, she got the manager to talk to me via the phone.
I was called in for a group interview and meet with different folks face-to-face. However, the hiring mgr did not show up. Heard that there were many candidates for the position and he did not have the time. I felt deflated. Did not hear back for 2 weeks after that, not until I requested feedback. The position had been filled.
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Cisco (Santa Clara, CA) in Mar 2010
Interview
Had face-to-face interview with the hiring manager that consisted of an informational overview of the department and the position. The second half of the interview with the hiring manager consisted of classic behavioral questions. It took several weeks for the hiring manager to decide on the candidate to make the offer to.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Cisco (San Jose, CA) in Dec 2009
Interview
Internal interview process. started with employee referral. several interviews with team-mates & hiring manager. Seemed that they had someone else in mind for the job & asked me to apply for a different position & then they came back a few weeks later & offered this job to me again. Appears to be a bit of a shell game played about where to put people, rather than a formal interviewing process.
