I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at CIBC (Montreal, QC) in Oct 2016
Interview
first it was a 30 minute phone interview with the recruiter the a 1 hour face-to-face with hiring manager and role play with customer on the phone.
customer in role play was a newlywed going on honeymoon and had to sell a credit card. You have to congratulate the customer and ask them about their income, their interests and suggest a credit card accordingly and try to close the sale. you have to act excited on the phone.

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at CIBC (Toronto, ON) in Dec 2016
Interview
Applied for multiple jobs and a recruiter emailed for first screening.
We talked over the phone and she was very excited and said she will definitely get back to me by end of the week. she even emphasized that multiple times and I was hoping finally CIBC recruitment team of recruiters are different and know their only responsibility really well and trained to work efficiently.
One week went to two and three while I sent couple of follow up emails. No response. She almost disappeared.
My question is what other job a recruiter has other than calling people and screening them and send them feedback. This needs to be read by CIBC senior EXEC and specially their recent CEO. You have more than 1000s of opening and your recruitment team seems to be failing to do their job efficiently. It is somehow insulting when a young recruiter tells you you are a good candidate and promise to contact you in a mentioned days and disappear on you. It is wrong, it is insulting, it is rude and it is unprofessional and untrained. Big focus and work is required in this department by CEO and SVP of talen acquisitions. I've heard they treat internal employees not as bad as externals but about the same.
Senior Exec, please consider this as constructive feedback to your firm. Training will align and change CIBC recruitment reputation between the banks!
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at CIBC
Interview
Was referred from an internal employee to a hiring manager. The hiring manager contacted me over the phone about a month later to set up a phone interview. The phone interview was very simple with only a few questions like why CIBC, some of my strengths, and about myself. After passing the phone interview I was referred to a branch manager where an interview was set up for the week following. The in person interview was 30 minutes and much more intense, with many situational based questions to pull from past experiences. The whole process from employee referral to start date was 2 months.
