I applied through an employee referral. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Boeing
Interview
The interview process was really informal. I met with my manager and he pretty much told me I was hired. However, the whole background check, security clearance, etc process was far more difficult than it needed to be. That was pretty indicative of how it is to work for Boeing, everything is much more difficult than need be.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Boeing (El Segundo, CA) in Mar 2013
Interview
The interview process was slow. It took about 3 months from initial contact to get an onsite interview. I was called to do an onsite interview and spent the entire day onsite. There was one major interview that lasted about one hour, after which we had a facilities tour and grabbed lunch. Overall the interview experience was great.

How much importance do you put into doing things the way they are described? i.e. in textbooks, directions, etc.
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Boeing (Houston, TX)
Interview
My interview was so long ago that it is irrelevant. However, I was on the interviewer side of the process a few years ago, and will base my inputs on that.

Question 1
Boeing now uses structured interviews. You will not be asked any specifics on your resume, but will probably be asked to come up with examples of when you've been in difficult situations. For example, "Tell me of an instance when you had to deal with adversity," "Tell me of an instance where you disagreed with a decision that was made."
