Telephone interview
(That’s what I got up to)
Took about 2weeks to get to telephone interview
I got the telephone interview and then after the interview I was put on hold and said I was unsuccessful. I asked why?
They said my response was good and detailed but, I don’t have the right personality? What!! The interviewer said I should be personal with the customer- ask about their children etc.
And how is someone meant to know things like this when they haven’t received the training or haven’t been given an opportunity to show how good they are and progress. The job description says there is 5 weeks training - if my interview was good and detailed , what’s the problem? You have to give someone an opportunity to let them show what they can do. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED, that a company judges someone they don’t know on their personality.
I don’t know the interviewers personality, I don’t judge them or anyone. So why judge someone you don’t know, especially when you have only spoke to the person for 10 minutes. But you said my responses were good and detailed.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at BT Group (Newcastle, England) in Feb 2020
Interview
I applied online, the process started off by filling in my personal details, then I answered some scenario based questions to look at my suitability to the role. I was then invited to a telephone interview which I scheduled for a week later. The interview was with a lovely member of the team who asked me questions about my current employment, my experience in customer service, why I wanted to work for BT and about my availability for shifts. I passed this interview and was invited to an assessment day at BT Gosforth, Newcastle Upon Tyne. I really enjoyed the day, it involved call listening, 2 role play scenario questions and a strength based interview and general CV questions. There was also an insightful presentation on the role and about BT as a company. I passed the assessment day and was offered a position on the Friday afternoon, my assessment day was on the Wednesday.

Interview
It was a 15-20 minute phone interview where they asked standard competency questions. They're assessing the interviewee's general confidence and communication skills. Researching the questions and practising your answers in advance helps a lot.
