      You can officially leave the office at 3pm on Fridays

      Cons

      Management make sweeping statements and dictate actions they have no intelligence or experience on. Hardly any interdepartmental communication meaning projects are run in chaos and take 10x longer then needed. Everyone is out for themselves and own department rather than working cohesively to get the job done. The behaviour of some colleagues is the most unprofessional I have ever witnessed but is accepted by senior management due to legacy. You will be expected to start early and finish late. Senior management being so disconnected from reality that you are forced into a doomed direction and then when things go wrong or you speak up you are the bad guy. Meetings - you have to really enjoy spending your entire day in meetings and then your evenings replying to emails.

      Pros

      - Office in central location, well designed and comfortable, besides free coffee; - Decent pay with KPI based bonus; - Java powerhouse with some amazing experts to learn from; - Dealing with software and systems problems in huge scale; - International team and very smart co-workers that will challenge you for better; - Periodic assessment with direct management feedback; - Very good work-life balance with market reference implementation of Kanban; - Constant internal events for updates on company changes, plans for each area and appraisals of teams and people; - Transformation undergoing in several areas, leaving lots of opportunities for learning and growth; - Move between teams and roles is completely possible as I have seen several cases closely; - Teams organisation: semi-autonomous pods with a Lead Engineer, Product Owner, Software Engineers and a mission in form of KPIs; - Long term vision of architecture and the move into (in this case really needed) microservices; - Agile Coaches available for consultation from teams or individuals and ad hoc trainings; - Internal trainings available on technical and non-technical subjects and also on company business; - Granted access to Safari Books online; - Short/Intensive Fridays leaving the office at 15:00; - Frequent events organised by Staff with free beer after work.

      Cons

      - The somewhat relaxed environment and bureaucracy demands high level of ownership to get things moving; - Matters can get political. It's a reflex from local Spanish/European culture and not at all exclusive to this company. So to foreigners like me, be aware; - People leaving. Can be a sign of the lack of salary reviews (bad), the constant company transformations (good), or both; - As company culture is still improving your experience may vary depending on the team. Anyway, as I have seen, you can move teams.
