Pros

Still growing company, hiring employee of any age and with different background and diversity. Established working procedures and rules, easy to learn and adapt. providing job safety in this bad job market.

Cons

Low wages, long working hours 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. No flexibility to adjust your working schedule to your other jobs, family events, health problems. Products you sell is mostly imported from China, eliminating local producers.

Pros

Amazing people work at these stores and don't get the credit they deserve based on negative stereotypes involved with the company name.

Cons

No one sees the good things the company does. If you want to see the real stories the ones not publicized to bring the company down look for them. They don't need to bring them out in the media for self gratification. For how many years they have been the most admired company and for how much they help the world.

The Worst Company I've ever worked for

Pros

It's a job, and beats being unemployed. Like all places, there are some good people to work with and I am lucky enough to work with some very good ones.

Cons

Total disregard for the lives of people working for them. For example, on Thanksgiving, we were scheduled (off the record) to work three eight hour shifts with four hours between each shift. At the last minute, that changed, but no one called to let those effected know. Only those present when the decision was made got the news. As a result, I was unable to spend thanksgiving with my recently widowed mother in order to show up for a shift I didn't need to work. ANother example: the store was closed due to a structural problem and simultaneously a state of emergency. They had us come in anyway only to turn us away at the door. Despite there being a written policy that we were to be paid for half of that day and all of the following two days, they did not pay. The reason? "We decided to use the old policy this time." There are so many other bad things that go on there. I wish there were a redeeming quality. I don't like to be all negative, but the behavior of this company from the top down is despicable. If you are eligible for unemployment benefits or can get a job cleaing bathrooms at the local bus station, I'd chose those over working for Wal Mart.
