Toxic work environment....

Pros

competitive pay, many locations, decent retirement plan. Many health insurance choices. Good pharmacy technology. The company continuously looks to expand the role of the pharmacist.

Cons

Culture at walgreens is toxic. More time is spent of building cases to fire employees, than time is invested to train and help them succeed. There is no molding and developing the people under you, either they do it right the first time, or they are treated punitively, no teaching, no learning. As a manager you are only doing your job if you are disciplining someone beneath you. There are quotas to fill for amount of disciplinary write-ups. You are told up front that no person is exceeding average on their performance review, you are at best meeting the minimum requirements of walgreens. As a manager you are considered soft, and not doing your job if you feel one of your employees is going above and beyond. Your success is totally dependent on whether or not you are a "yes man" to your arrogant District Manager, who by the way is climbing the ladder by putting everyone below him/her in a constant state of fear of loosing their livelihood for any small mistake. Pharmacy graduates out there, I would recommend you look long and hard at this company before practicing pharmacy in this environment.

Pros

Insurance and choices are good. Some of the training is very valuable. Ie.pharmacy tech training.

Cons

Cap on pay and being dictated to rate lower on evaluations to keep raise percent lower. Way too short handed. So called power plan for pharmacy is a waste of money and a hinderance to pharmacy ops. Stress legal way too high for a healthcare provider. Patients are not impressed. Pay not equal or enough for the work load.

Pros

good 401K plan, good paid time off

Cons

Supervisors and Human Resources are unethical, negligent, abrasive, bullying, make poor decisions, conspire amongst each other to protect themselves when the employee has a legitimate right to question something. Supervisors are either not informed or choose not to inform employees of essential things that employees found out the hard way, (related to employee rights! ) Excessive email communications from irrelevant/unrelated parts of the company and poor excuses and cover ups for not answering up to questions which affected employees contract or morale. The entire company is a cast system and HR is the company watchdog that protects higher management, even when it is evident that practices were wrong and terribly unethical. There is no justice if you are a Manager or Health Fitness Specialist. You will be used up, chewed up, and spit out. The conference calls are a nauseating display of one individual the 'Product Solution' Fitness Manager trying to justify his useless joke of a title that no one has any use for and they take attendence on the calls like employees are in grade school. I have never seen such a display of unethical practices and cover ups and unprofessional behavior of those in coveted titles until Take Care Heatlh was my employer. Would never recommend.
