Pros

Brand name company on resume

Cons

STAY FAR AWAY FROM UBER FOR BUSINESS All the sales managers are completely useless. Their main job is to micromanage and babysit the reps. They do nothing all day, they sit on their computers and refresh the sales analytics dashboard hoping to see a change. They don’t practice what they preach yet they want all the reps to “work hard and go the extra mile” while they do no work or help at all. The culture is pure politics here. All favoritism, nepotism and a popularity contest with little to no basis for merit. SMB and MM are the worst segments to be in. They give you unrealistic quotas with super low bases with a book of business that has no product market fit. Enterprise and strategic teams have it better as there is more use cases for travel and meals there and the compensation is a bit higher. This org is a complete joke and all the directors and managers know they are frauds when they look in the mirror everyday. They have completely no idea what they are doing or how to run a successful sales business. All they care about is coming and collecting their salary

Pros

Great Benefits, health, medical insurance and unlimited PTO

Cons

Where to start?! Hired in September 2021, after 2 months they changed the compensation structure. They reduced the salary by 40%. I felt cheated and betrayed because I transitioned from my previous job because of the higher salary. They also changed the quota and it became not on closing accounts (although am an account executive) the quota was on the first delivery of the restaurant you signed and the revenue that the restaurant brings. They expect you close the deal and sell the promotions and marketing that the account managers are supposed to do. This is an inside sales job but they want you to go outside all the time. They have terrible customer service and they don’t care about the merchants (restaurants) The leaders (not really leaders) they are only trying to hype things up when there is a success story but you don’t hear them when they do something wrong. They get silent as if they can’t be responsible enough for their wrong management. The top performers are being fed accounts by the management. So they out perform everybody else. The chance of you doing great depends on your manager, location and book of business. Also the quota keeps on changing (increasing) although half of the floor are not hitting the quota. But the management don’t care because they are not going to pay the commission. In summary, they act if they care and if they are a good company but they are not. At least in the Midwest team.

Pros

-great benefits -free breakfast/lunch/snacks/drinks -younger employees (pro and con) -casual dress -free swag -unlimited PTO (used to be for all employees, now only salaried employees)

Cons

-no work/life balance: if you like to have a social/personal life outside of work, UF is not the place for you. Good luck getting time to yourself, especially if you work as a lower level team member in account management. "Uber Holidays" do not apply to Uber Freight, and you will often hear "freight never sleeps" as an excuse. If you are salaried, you will not be paid overtime and are typically expected to work on holidays. If you are hourly, you will have to fight with your other coworkers and hope that your manager will let you have the day off. -Toxic work environment: did you hear someone saying something inappropriate on the floor and you want to report it to HR? Are they an L3+ employee? If so, your complaints will go unheard. Management has been reported to HR for everything from sexual harassment to racist remarks to asking other employees for drugs on the floor and get a slap on the wrist. Lower level employees have been fired on the spot for an off-color joke. Are you someone that isn't a straight, cisgender white man? Enjoy staying in a lower level position with pay that is much lower than your straight white male counterparts! -Young employees: Expect to have someone recruited straight out of college to be your manager, even when there were plenty of people more qualified and with seniority in the office or on your team already. Oh, and expect to train your new manager and continue coaching them throughout your time below them. Constant restructures: Don't get too comfortable, your team is always changing! You may get one account, you may have close to 20 accounts, and those accounts may constantly be changing due to frequent reorgs and restructures. Useless management: Do you love being micromanaged by someone who does absolutely nothing and/or isn't at all qualified to be your manager? Then this job is for you! Expect to have a new manager on a rotating basis. In the 2+ years I was at UF, I had 6 managers. Only two of them fit the bill for a "good manager". White out culture: Uber loves to boast about how inclusive they are, but the reality is that most employees of color are in low level positions when white men are in charge. Yes, there are ERGs like Pride, Black at Uber, etc - but don't let that fool you. As mentioned above, if you are not a white straight man, you will not be paid or treated as well as your white male counterparts. Slackers, slackers, slackers: Expect to pull your weight, plus the weight of countless others who can slide by doing less than the bare minimum. Expect to be drained, exhausted, and overwhelmed while your coworker hangs out and shoots pool with someone from sales and marks it off as an "important meeting" on the calendar. High school all over again: If you loved high school drama, maybe UF is the place for you. With a younger working population, Uber feels more like UHS rather than a legitimate corporate office most of the time.
