Ok as bit extra

Pros

Been working for TranscribeMe for about 3 years. It's mainly ok as a bit extra money, particularly as you progress.

Cons

I've been working for TranscribeMe for about 3 years and I'm still a bit confused at times by the rules/reviewing, too ambiguous/subjective and micromanagement. Lately I've found Rev a bit more worth the time and effort and money. There's more leeway for personal judgement and choice on there.

Pros

The biggest pro, of course, is that you can work whenever you want to, as much or as little as you like. TranscribeMe is great for beginners because they help you obtain the skills to succeed. They review all of your work, and you get to see the corrections so you can learn from them. Everyone starts as a transcriber, but with some hard work and perseverance you can move up the ranks and end up making some decent money at home. However, you have to survive the first month or so. $20 an audio hour is not a great pay rate, especially when it can take you up to 40 minutes to do a 2 minute file in the beginning. They ideally expect for a 2 minute file to be finished in 7 minutes. You'll get there if you stick with it. They have a great yammer community (similar to like a Facebook page, but with only people who work for TM) that is highly informative and supportive of all its members. You can ask questions and get the help you need, if you need it. This is a unique feature because you get support and encouragement, so working at home isn't so lonely. You're not alone, but there is also no office politics to deal with either. You can interact as much or as little as you'd like. Once you've worked for a little while and have proved that your work is up to par, you can apply for special teams, become a QA (quality analyzer) or reviewer, or even end up being a part of the administrative team, and all of these come with a higher pay rate. TM likes to promote from within. The higher up you progress the more income potential is there. I've been here for a little over 3 months. The first month I made $100, (I know, it's like third world wages) working part time as I have a regular job as well. Now, I still work part time, but I average about $100 per week as a QA. I know I can make more, but I'm still learning how to QA. It's a different skill than transcribing and has its own learning curve. My goal is to make $1200 a month, and i'm sure I will be able to within the next few months. I love TM. Best job ever!! I read a lot of negative reviews, and almost didn't even consider working here because of it. That would've been such a mistake. If you're looking for a legit work from home opportunity that's not a get rich quick scheme, give TM a chance. Don't let the small income at the beginning make you lose sight of the potential. Stick with it, hone your skills, and focus on accuracy and the speed will come. You too can have the work from home job that you desire.

Cons

The only real con I can see is that in the beginning, it's hard to get files to work on, so that can be frustrating. But once you take some accent exams and get on a team, or QA then the work is much more consistent.
