Pros

Branch/office co-workers were great: young, energetic, creative, and ambitious. Lots of diverse talent. Subject material of work was generally very interesting. Immediate superiors were competent and advocated strongly for their team(s).

Cons

The corporate culture is that of a sweatshop; emphasis on volume and speed, often to the detriment of the deliverable's quality. Quality control methods could use some work: bottlenecks in QA department, lots of finger-pointing. Very difficult to secure a raise/promotion; good employees are not valued as highly as they should be.

Pros

recruiters do a great job and your peers become your source of strength, your friends, and a huge comfort. They make the job fun sometimes. I've remained close with the friends I made while working at TransPerfect. relaxed dress code

Cons

low pay and very long hours Tense, stressed, and often hostile work environment poor management, bad communication and leadership You hear only 2 things from management: 1) you messed up, and you are getting a "verbal warning" ("you're inefficient" is a popular one, to demoralize their hard-working employees); or if someone is doing well, 2) you need to be taking on more work. (Simply meeting the demands of the job will not cut it. If you're good at it, management uses this against you to pile on more projects) Inflexible about vacation or time off. No lunch breaks. Office is drab, cheap, and in need of repair. Bathrooms are filthy. When working such long hours it would help if the place was less depressing, offered a cup of drinkable coffee, maybe even stocked the pantry with a few items... small price to pay to make employees feel less taken for granted.

Pros

TransPerfect can be a good place for someone who is primarily interested in a solid compensation package. There is a lot of opportunity for young professionals to gain access to results-oriented sales and/or project management roles. It is a young company and if you are looking for a "work hard/play hard" type of place, this could be a good fit.

Cons

There is very little separation of work and life. Most employees are expected to attend social functions outside of the office which becomes burdensome since we are typically working a large number of hours. There is a lot of turnover in the junior-level positions as those who don't "buy-in" typically use this as an opportunity to add to their resume before getting burnt out or finding another position. Another problem is that because the company grew so quickly, they didn't have time to get the proper infrastructure in place. This causes some problems when it comes to issues with Human Resources, Training, etc.
