Pros

-Product is amazing, best in class for short form video - fast paced environment - lots of opportunity to try and learn new things - great people

Cons

- leadership for some orgs can be toxic or non-transparent - some leaders will try to force you out so you don't write bad performance review about them - some orgs will expect you to work long hours and not mention it in interviews (working as late as 10PM or later) - employee benefits are seriously behind Google, Meta, Linkedin - lots of red tape on approvals that need to get approved in Beijing/Singapore - compensation for some roles are not competitive to the talent market in silicon valley, most notably sales - sales reps at TikTok are extremely underpaid, commissions are capped, and target setting by rev ops/sales ops is hit or miss. Most times its a miss and you'll end up with insane quotas to hit with no opportunity to make it up in later quarters since there is a commission cap -additionally, folks that are on the largest accounts at TikTok booking the most money are put on a compensation/accelerator incentives that are the same as folks in Growth or much smaller accounts. It's not sustainable for keeping high quality sales talent long term.

Pros

- When applying for jobs outside of the company, the TikTok name takes you far, regardless of what you did in the company - Management and colleagues are lovely - Nice social events organised for employees within the team - A lot of gifts by the company regularly ie. when joining and Christmas - Given lunch allowance as a treat sometimes - Snacks and free lunch in the office

Cons

- If you are used to an English working structure, you will be in for a shock - Working every weekend, with a weekend off once a month - Working 9 hours daily, sometimes having six day working weeks - Holidays are hard to book as there is a lot of restricted periods - High KPI's and performance is micromanaged - Possibility to progress within the company, but the roles are very niche and not of value outside of the company

Pros

The job itself is relatively easy

Cons

Anyone with a positive review here was either asked to do it or isn't paying attention. TikTok is by far the worst corporate tech company you can work in. They do not care for employees, and ignorantly cite the contract even though the law can trump the contracts. They tell employees to be grateful about about things that people should take for granted, like having a weekend off. They believe they are doing us a favour when they do not completely see us as trash. Every step you take is watched and scrutinised. The managers employed are not normal and think highly of themselves. I have never seen a more lower sycophant group of people ever in my life. They also gaslight you at every turn. Don't work here if you value your braincells and mental health because, besides the cruelty, the app is ridiculous and is going to make people lose tremendous amounts of IQ points
