Pros

Well-known company that looks great on the CV, will match your current salary so if you’re already making good money you’ll continue to do so. Decent benefits, although they’re getting progressively worse. Might be opportunities to move up into more impressive-sounding titles to then leverage into a career step-up externally.

Cons

This is not the place for a career. Sure, you can climb upwards, but the salary won’t climb with you. The complete lack of empathy from senior management makes it clear that you are not valued or respected. Company is run on chaos, there’s no organisation and no communication. Constant restructuring and the people in charge have no idea what they’re doing, and refuse to listen to the experts they’ve hired. Every time the shortcomings are highlighted, the response is always the same; “we’re still a start-up” If you’ve been offered a job at TikTok, by all means do take it, but have an exit plan ready and don’t stay longer than you need.

Pros

Great colleagues who don't deserve to work there, that's literally the only pro.

Cons

You will work every weekend, and will need to wait 6weeks to have a weekend off, so basically you do not have a life balance. You are expected to work 2 different shifts in a week with 1 day off: for example Monday to Wednesday you do 3pm to 12am, Thursday off and then Friday to Monday you do 8-5. You work every bank holidays. You can't choose your lunch time, each day they will attribute your lunch break (sometimes when you do 8-5 you will have your lunch at 11am, 3pm to 12am your lunch can be at 6pm......) They are checking everything you're doing like you're a school, they love micromanaging especially managers, you can see when they talk to you that they feel superior because of their job position, but being honest, they don't realise that they're just a number, I feel bad for them.. They request you to come 3 days in the office but you can't talk to your colleagues because you have to keep your metrics high and have a quiet office or HR is getting involved, so what's the point to come into the office? Spend money on transports and eat bad food? Lot of people are getting sick because of food service, with insects and plastic being found. When you post about it on a general group chat so people don't choose this exact meal but something else that they serve, they remove it so no one can see it.....like they don't assume their choice of a cheap caterer? C'mon don't be ashamed of being cheap! If you are sick or on AL on an office day, you will have to make up the day the following week, so you will ask me, what's the point to be on AL? no idea... The amount of policies that we have to learn is ridiculous as every week it's changing and when they check behind you they tell you that you are wrong. They can't even write a policy and follow it properly because they do not know what they are doing, and when we follow what they say, we are wrong? C'mon do your work properly please. High turnover, every 2-3months you can see new people arriving because people are living. We have 1hour lunch break, and 4 small breaks that we can't take when we want because of backlog, so basically sometimes you can't take your small breaks. Now they pay, RIDICULOUS. Snapchat/Meta are offering so much more compared to TikTok. TikTok hasn't changed their salary in 5years for the moderation team, so it tells you a bit about what kind of company it is, a billion dollars company can afford to pay their employees the salary that deserve? How funny, right? Spend 8 hours a day watching rape/mutilation/violent videos for 24k/year? Hell no. Because of contents, moderators are not well due to violent graphic that we watch, it is really impacting our mental health, and nothing is done about it. Oh yes, they offer you 6 free therapy session, if you want to continue, you will have to pay yourself, how kind? With an insulting salary they ask you to pay therapy? I love how they are thoughtful. When you are sick you will have to have a return to work interview and they will choose if they pay you sick leave or no based on your explanation. If you are sick 3 times in 6months, HR is getting involved. So be careful you don't want to be sick...No careers growth at all. If you want to change your positon, you will have to relocate to Dublin or Amsterdam. They never hire internally in London office, why? No one will ever know. Well I think it's enough, so run away, nothing is worth in this company unless you want PTSD, welcome!

Pros

You get to say you work at Tik Tok

Cons

HELL on earth! No support, no guidance, criticized for asking questions and for help after receiving poor training, blame culture, no team comradery . I was asked to start at 7am am on my 2nd day and my personal life was non existent after that. I was spoken to appallingly from day one, accused of not being myself, given impossible deadlines and anihilated when unable to meet them, despite working day and night in my own time to try. Working 7 day weeks to try and keep up with the work, constant criticism, severe anxiety, I had repetitive strain injury and Carpal Tunnel from spending so many hours sitting at my desk. What a horrible environment, if you have a good experience there consider yourself very lucky. I consider my experience to be the equivalent to being throw out to sea and being made to swim back to land whilst a life boat hovers nearby, just out of arms reach splashing water over your head. My advice: as exciting as it may be, don't join this company and if you do, the minute you experience anything bad keep detailed records to cover yourself and work on getting the hell out.
