Pros

I'd struggle to think of pros. There are none. The business is mostly based in the US, so working internationally means you have unrealistic expectations, tiny teams and no resource. Since they got rid of the senior marketing leader and centralised marketing team in international, there is no marcomms leadership or voice at the top, only the leaders of each regional group fighting for supremacy with no adults at the table to calm panic or have a view that isn't siloed in regional business goals. Changing priorities and a lack of vision mean a constant sense of panic and overwhelm. I worked here only six years and saw major restructures every 18 months or so. Repeat 'This will definitely fix the (undefined) problem!' roughly every year and a half and you will have a sense of the 'management vision' of Cigna International senior leadership. Good people leave quickly, whether by their own choice or not. I should have left sooner.

Cons

All of them. Take your pick. My top would be: smart, qualified people tend to leave quickly, and if they don't leave of their own accord, they are made redundant. Not surprised to hear from a former colleague that Cigna has announced at least 2,000 redundancies rolling through 2026.

Great company turned disaster

Pros

My team was great and works hard. Many of the staff level people work very hard.

Cons

Benefits are substandard especially for being a health insurance company and PBM Most Management is abusive to staff and leadership does nothing to put quality management in place that should be there. The purchase of ExpressScripts destroyed Cigna. Cigna was once a well run company but not anymore. Now it has taken on the toxic culture of Express Scripts and the poorly run company. The hours people work are horrendous and the pay is barely keeping up with other companies in the industry. They will do anything to keep leadership rich and in power and they do not care about any of the employees. Don’t even think about working for this toxic organization if you want to be happy. 😊
