Pros

Valuable experience with one on one mentor training. Allows you to be innovative and lead. They take you to fun intern events where you meet the entire management team and get to interact with them.

Cons

Lots of web based training, and not much "helpful" preparation for operational review.

Pros

The customers, or "guests", are actually great if you are not a cashier. Being a backroom/instocks/flow/everything else team member, I have plenty of interactions with guests and they have been mostly positive. The times it was negative is when someone at the registers told them a lie... The team members can be awesome. I work at one of the best stores in my area and many of the team members are a blast to work with. Everyone is generally happy. This said, those who are hostile or generally unhappy do not last long.

Cons

Management, those who are "in charge" often lack in impressive skills. As a team member, it is soon expected that you become very comfortable with your job. The issue I had, and our store, was that the talented leaders were sent to weaker stores leaving us with many leaders that were unskillful and unknowledgeable about the tasks their subordinates were assigned. Right now, I truly outdo my "leader" at any given moment. The veteran team members can be the worst. Key word: CAN. These veterans will assume that what they say and do is gospel and will either push you aside or will refuse to move out of the way. I, though I don't want to sound cocky, have made a statement about my skills and have been recognized quite often. I know what I am doing and get noted for my achievements, yet some STILL BELIEVE they know better even when they are not trained in my job. Not only do they tell one what to do, they move so slow.... Finally, pay sucks considering what we do. Without the backroom team members, the store crumbles. We have to put items into the system, remove them to stock the floor, pull online orders, manage organization, check all dates on consumables, insure all numbers are correct that influence freight, pull scans by all teams, stock all items worked by teams, etc. Yet, we only get paid SLIGHTLY more than some.
