Pros

Great pay for full time, AWESOME part time pay. You learn a lot here about security and the government workings.

Cons

Alot of young kids get hired here. Management is very coercive in their ways. Management doesn't listen to their workers if it doesn't benefit them. This company goes in waves, for a while they were firing everyone that had anything to be fired for to "remove dead weight" which in turn we lost a few REALLY good people. The way they do things is unethical. Trust no one.

Pros

Excellent pay for very limited experience. Las Vegas had the best managers on the planet and you very rarely heard someone getting fired or quit out of anger.

Cons

Very large turnover due to poorly managed airports Seattle is a walking crap hole with people quitting or gePtting fired from officers to supervisors. One ten year supervisor was demoted due to false accusations of anger issues. Issues that have never come up in his ten year tenure. One 7 year supervisor has elected to take a customs and border patrol job making 14k less to get out of the TSA. It's very easy to HR someone out of a job. Get four or more letters of counsel filed against you (these are non-grievable and undefendable), and you can be fired. I was a lead supervisor when fired for unauthorized overtime, even though it was approved a month in advance and management had full knowledge of this overtime despite my supervisor wanting me to go through an unofficial mentorship. Plus, lead supervisor is as far as most people go as far as promotions. Irregular hours and always working on holidays. It's a part of the game, but it did wear on your family life. Very likely to be replaced by private companies. No one feels they have job security in TSA.
