Pros

1. Stable Job, that can be easy dependent on your personality (Don't let passengers or coworkers get under your skin) 2. In June 2023 (apparently), TSA will be on a new pay scale that rewards time in service 3. Overtime available

Cons

1. Hard to move up at times (Often requires you to take a promotion at a different airport than the one you started at) 2. Work becomes repetitive over time unless you take on multiple responsibilities. (Checkpoint, Baggage, Hazmat, Closer, etc.) 3. TSA/TSO and Passenger interactions are an unfortunately toxic circle. Passengers can be selfish and inconsiderate, which negatively effects us, and then we pass that hate onto other unrelated passengers, as well as our coworkers. (Internalize Professional Empathy)

Pros

The work is pretty simple once it becomes muscle memory. The medical benefits are fantastic.

Cons

Huge disconnect between Officers and Management. Some of the most horrible communication I've ever experienced. The inability or refusal to make their employees feel supported will eventually either drain you or brainwash you into becoming part of the problem. Major internal flaws in the testing procedures with no regard for improvement. Hiring prior to completion of a lengthy background check which leads to one of the many factors that cause the high turnover rate. There is an obvious (yet unspoken/unaddressed) tension between staff members due to unfair and unequal treatment by supervisors. Headquarters and other administrative persons nationwide are disconnected from the individual hubs, creating a sense of "you're just a number on a piece of paper" among employees. Attempting to address and improve any of the above while employed there will leave you with a huge target on your back.
