Supervisory Transportation Security Administration
Pros
Not much to be happy about as a supervisor, lots of stress from above and below you. There is career progression, but you have to keep your head down and just say yes even if your leaders don't know what they are talking about to ensure you can keep promoting. Once you arrive above the bottom management level, your optimizing and ability to think for yourself begin to arrive.
Cons
Lots of work little pay, no pay raises, and not of GS scale. Management, screeners and passengers blame supervisors for all mistakes or mishaps on the checkpoint. No policy is sticking around, one day there is all you can give out overtime the next day you are not allowed to offer anyone overtime even if there is a line. Management doesn't understand basic mathematical properties of passenger metrics, and blames supervisors for poor scheduling year after year.
