Very stressful and unrealistic training expectations

Pros

Fairly decent pay for the type of work, and decent benefits. The classroom training and staff were very good, but it ends there. Most passengers at the airport were easy to deal with.

Cons

Very toxic negative environment. Not very many happy employees at the Maui airport. Worst checkpoint I have ever seen. Hot, noisy and claustrophobic. Entrenched Mgrs./supervisors with military background that were very rigid, lacked professionalism and people skills. After talking with many longtime employees, it was apparent there was little chance of moving up. Worst job ever !

Pros

It's a foot in the door for other federal jobs. And we are at the forefront in the fight against terrorism within our country. People depend on you whether they acknowledge it or not.

Cons

A thankless job that requires you to be self motivated because most people don't like the work you do feeling everyone but them should be screened.

The pay is not bad for the locations, especially if you only have a high school diploma or GED.

Cons

The basic requirement is a GED. There is no reward for education or military service, the leadership of this organization is a joke. They take care of themselves and don't care about the hard workers that actually do the leg work to keep the flying public safe.
