Pros

Can get experience to find better job somewhere else, especially as foreigner or just starting in job market Potential for progress in the company - but only if you're liked by people hiring

Cons

Nepotism and favourism run rampant in this company, particularly in their payments Client. Your salary will be minimum wage, your toilet breaks timed, and you'll be micromanaged daily because you'll need to have certain number of customer interactions done. Management is utterly uncapable and inexperienced, and Upper management has no idea what they are doing and due to their egos they won't take ant feedback seriously. They put on a great show for the Client, but in reality they are so incapable it makes you think how did they get the contract in the first place. Company puts on a show about their values and employee engagement but in reality they honestly do not care about any employee in that building. Just recently they fired over 50 people only to post job ads for those same positions again, your job boards are full of them - check if you don't believe it. Everyone is expendable, everyone is a number and you'll hate this place with a passion within 2 months, I can guarantee you that. You'll feel stressed and burnt out. You can forget your PTO getting approved, or planning your free time cause you'll get schedule published only for 3 weeks in advance which can be changed last minute. You'll be switched between different teams and managers without any training. You'll be expected to be a subject matter expert for a complicated suite of products without any help or training, and then put on a PIP by your useless manager. You'll be paid minimum wage - and then the payroll team will miscalculate your pay so you'll somehow end up owing them money. Phony folks with massive egos and zero idea about running business, leadership and management are managing people who genuinely deserve better. It's your classic soul sucking call center job. Avoid it at all costs....nobody should be that desperate to work here.

Pros

Flexible remote work - You can work from home and set your own schedule around other commitments. No commute required. Interesting work - The rating tasks provide intellectual stimulation and allow you to learn new things. Low barrier to entry - No prior experience required. Telus provides all the training you need. Additional income - It can be a nice side gig for extra money in addition to a primary job.

Cons

Pay could be better - The pay rate starts at $14/hr which is decent but not high. No benefits provided. Repetitive tasks - Rating can become tedious and monotonous over time. Little feedback - You don't often get feedback on your quality or performance. Ratings monitored - Your work quality is monitored and must meet standards to remain employed. Tax requirements - You must keep track of and pay your own taxes as an independent contractor. Requires concentration - This is focus intensive work, not a mindless side gig you can do while multitasking.
