There are A LOT of politics. For a simple Sales Rep. position, there's definitely a lot going on. There's also been a change in the availability requirements that you MUST be available on weekends, and 3 days from Monday to Friday (with one opening shift Monday or Tuesday) and be available for a total of 36 hours a week. It's pretty ridiculous considering most part-timers are in school and meeting this is next to impossible! Lucky for me, I fast-tracked through school so I don't have a full course load. Any full time students taking 6+ courses may have some serious difficulty with meeting these requirements.
Also, in 2012, there was a DRASTIC cut to part-time benefits. We went from having full regular benefits to a $750 health spending account. While I understand that TELUS was quite generous before with benefits for part-time staff, the change to the HSA was sudden and uncalled for and was poorly executed. Even for part-time staff that have been with the company for 5+ years, they get the same benefits as someone who got hired yesterday.
Finally, good luck getting any kind of promotion if you're not full time. It won't happen.
